Busy, Dizzy and Happy in 2024!
What a year this has been! Winter and spring was hectic enough at Salamanders; once the patio opened, it was more like a riot. The very warm weather, the new dock, the flowing water in the Rideau Reach Harbourfront have all contributed to Salamanders becoming a social hub for the community. Meetings, parties, get-togethers are taking place in quick succession with small, medium and large groups booking us from late morning right into the evening. We are so grateful to all of our loyal clients for booking ahead and coming out in droves.
Many thanks also for your kind commentary on the annual patio landscaping undertaken by Glenda; it’s particularly lush this year due to alternating sun and rain. With July well underway, we have had extreme heat coupled with extreme rain. Lorraine Delangis is back with her cloth sculptures, always a hit with our patio guests. Of course, the North Grenville Arts Guild is showing inside as always.
Beth always arrives home to The Forest at LilyPond (our family’s farm) with the latest stories from our guests. We could write a book on their exploits as they travel nationally and across the world. Some folks are kind enough to bring home souvenirs, most often in the form of Salamanders. Recently, Gerald Chamberlain gifted Salamanders with a large fabric sculpture of a Salamanders. It is now prominently displayed for all to see just next to the restaurant’s bar. By the way, we still have lots of wall space if anyone else gets inspired…
We are now gearing up for our 15th anniversary celebration in September. This is a very special occasion for us. We have seen babies grow up into adolescence and we have lost some great older clients to their passing on. We have fond memories of all those who have passed through our doors, including those great students who spent several summers helping to serve tables and who are now visiting us as guests. To those special people, we owe our thanks for our continuing success.
So the best for a great summer: we hope to see your smiling faces often (just don’t forget to call ahead to get your favourite table…).
From your Salamanders Team
